The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is excited to host another spectacular show at The Arts Garage (TAG) opening tonight!
“Medley: A Look at Style Across Mediums” will feature the work of Shelby Bork, a resident artist of TAG.
The show debuts with an opening reception at TAG tonight (Friday September 16) at 6pm.
There will be cocktails, Small City Taphouse beer and appetizers during the reception, which is open to everyone.
Bork’s show will feature a little bit of artwork from every medium, a true medley of work.
Her work ranges from wire twisted jewelry, block prints, plein air pieces, large soft pastels, oil pastels, acrylic, watercolor and a little pottery, sculptures and fashion designs.
“I want to show how a person’s art style differs based on the material they’re using,” she said.
Bork is entirely self-taught, beginning to focus on art full-time after graduating with a degree in ceramic engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2020.
While studying at Missouri S&T, she began sketchbook journaling and doing henna tattoos at local events and festivals. She began pursuing art as a career after receiving her degree.
Last year she participated in three outdoor art shows in Ohio and Michigan, taking Best of Show at the Port Clinton Artist’s Club’s annual Art in the Park.
This year she took third place in Fine Art at the Ely Minnesota Blueberry Festival and Art Show. She will also participate in the upcoming Black Swamp Art Festival in Bowling Green, Ohio (Sept. 9-11).
The Arts Garage is located in the old city street department, at 317 W. Perry Street in Port Clinton, Ohio.
