Jan Hackett, of Port Clinton, is featured in the latest installment exhibit at the Healing Wall at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.
The Healing Wall is a rotating exhibit of artists from around Ottawa County and began more than eight years ago as a collaboration between the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council and the hospital.
The idea is the Healing Wall, which is located in the outpatient wing hallway, can give a few moments of peace through the stress of a hospital visit.
Magruder Hospital is located at 615 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH 43452.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jan Hackett lives in Port Clinton and began painting pet portraits in 2004 after a friend’s dog passed away. She wanted to help ease the pain of the friend’s loss and capture the essence of her beloved pet.
For nearly 10 years, Jan worked as the Operations Manager and Instructor at Oregon City Schools Career and Technology Center. She developed and taught adults in the emerging job industry and assisted with job placement.
She is a self-taught artist after attending a few artists’ workshops and now spends her retirement as an artist and art instructor.
She loves to bring her knowledge and love of working with adults into the world of art, she says.
Her favorite mediums are Brusho Watercolour Crystals and charcoal. Using them together, she can create a pop of color with the dramatic look of the black charcoal.
The paintings on the Healing Wall are for sale except for one of Jan’s brother. She also offers prints, some of her original art and greeting cards for sale on her website www.JanHackettArt.com.
Jan’s work will be on display until January 20, 2023.
To purchase a piece from the Healing Wall, please contact Magruder Hospital’s administrative director of marketing and public relations Lis Brand at 419-734-3131 ext.3145.
