Call for Artists!

We are gearing up for the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council’s annual fundraising event, and we are thrilled to announce that we will be back to seeing everyone in person!

In the past, we held art raffle events, such as Appetite for the Arts, Hoods Up, and Boats, Brushes & Beer, at various venues in the area. Last year, the global pandemic forced us to experiment. Palettes and Prohibition: A Night at the Speakeasy, held as an online auction, was a huge success and opened up a world of opportunity for greater exposure and additional ways to promote you, our talented artists.

Our 2021 hybrid event will combine the best of both worlds. Toasting Transformation will be a celebration of our work to transform the former Port Clinton maintenance garage into The Arts Garage (TAG), a cultural arts center for all of our communities to enjoy. The online auction will kick off on

st August 16th and culminate with a live event at TAG on August 21 .

This year’s participating artists:

  • Earn a 20% commission.

  • Can promote themselves and their work with links in auction listings, promotional videos, and more.

  • Get half-off admission to the August 21st event at TAG.

Guidelines:

We can provide a 12x12 wooden panel for your transformation-themed creation or you can submit pieces in the format/medium of your choice – the creative possibilities are endless! We can also auction off mural commissions, art classes and other experiences. We welcome any and all ideas!

Important dates and actions:

  • ASAP: Fill out the online artist registration form. We will use this info to contact you with any updates and it will help us plan for how much artwork to expect.

  • August 1: Art is due. Completed pieces can be dropped off at Lilly & Gert’s, 124 W. 2nd Street, in Port Clinton, or call a committee member below and we can arrange a pickup.

o Along with your work, please provide a short bio, a description of your piece, a suggested minimum price and a link to your personal art page or other portfolio to be listed with your piece/s. We will not add your piece to the auction or put it on display until we have this information.

  • August 16: Auction goes live. Artists are encouraged to share links on social media and promote their pieces. We will also be doing live videos before and during this week to increase exposure.

  • August 21: Live event at TAG and auction comes to an end.

If you know anyone else who would be interested, please pass the information along. We are always happy to bring new artists aboard!

The majority of proceeds from this event go to funding the services and programs we provide throughout the year, including public art purchases, mural work, commissions, public events and now, of course, our future cultural arts center.
